4:5 (Blue) – Notes

-
felt a little rushed to get these two pictures (Lines & Blue) done before Karen returned from Oshawa

-
used only blue oil paints (with white for tinting)
-
discovered a new finishing/ mixing technique that I call skimming
-
needs to be done with a thick painting knife with very little blade flex
-
lightly skim the blade across the canvas with a fast motion

-
the squiggles work best with a very flexible blade with a firmer motion – Curry’s angled painting knives?
-
need to experiment with short fast squiggles vs long slow squiggles (used a bit of this technique in Kaboom)

-
used beige masking tape to hold orange tape on back of canvas frame
-
need to try green tape – might be sufficiently strong & be easier to remove
