7:5 (Pink) – Notes
-
Originally wanted the foreground to be blue, but decided more contrast was needed (same with 7:6)
-
Opted for red colors using the same techniques as used in Fun’L
-
Used a lazy susan to rotate the painting every few strokes
-
Wasn’t knocked out by the flesh tone color, but it does provide some contrast & interest – wish it didn’t tend toward orange hues
-
Paint applied in the following order: white, grey, flesh tone, cadmium red hue, permanent rose, alizarin crimson, magenta
-
Learned that the first coats (wide flat brush) should be much thinner than latter coats (narrow flat brush)
-
Really liked the smaller Curry’s brush for the final (magenta) coat – next time, try even smaller brushes
-
New technique: used a small arrow-head plastic knife to scape excess paint off the brush and use as a “palette” to re-load the brush – worked great!
