3:4 – Notes
-
Used 4 contrasting widths of tape in the following sequence:
-
1” and ¾” tape – splits the canvas in thirds horizontally
-
2 x ½” tape (= 1”) splits the canvas in thirds from the midpoint of one side radiating to the opposite side
-
3 x ¼” tape (= ¾”) splits the canvas in fourths from the midpoint of one side radiating to the opposite side
-
The tape was sealed with two coats of gesso
-
The colors are based on complimentary colors:
-
Top Row = Violet, Yellow
-
Middle Row = Red, Green
-
Bottom Row = Blue, Orange
-
Left column colors added white (Tint)
-
Right column colors added black (Shade)
-
The middle column were mixed areas of the pure and complimentary colors
-
The Violet, Green and Blue shades were toned down by adding & mixing white to the original color
-
The squiggles were fashioned after L’eine and were made with various clay sculpting tools
-
This is probably the first of a series of three or four paintings exploring different color schemes.
