#1
Named in the tradition of Mr. Pollock.
-
Ever since becoming aware of Jackson Pollock and Lavender Mist in 1973, I've been fascinated with this painting
-
In 2017, had the overwhelming experience of seeing it at the National Gallery of Art in Washington
-
Always wanted to experiment with painting without touching the canvas
First experiment using syringes
Notes:
-
Used yellow frog tape to reveal a circle in the painting.
-
Tape was put on bottom of a martini glass, outlined in pencil and cut.
-
After squirting paint on canvas, it was determined that the tape couldn’t be removed without the chance of wrecking the painting.
-
The yellow tape remains (upper left quadrant) – the circle can be seen in raised relief & a portion of the tape is visible.
-
Experimented with fast & slow arm motions, fast & slow syringe plunger speed, & sporadic gushes.
-
A small amount of red & white were mixed (pink).
