Four Across: The Beat Series

I wanted to do a series about the different possible meanings of the word Beat/ Beet. Was going to include a city scape of a policeman's beat, but decided to stop at four paintings. The following are my preliminary ideas and plans for this group. Interesting to note how things change....

 

Preliminary Ideas - Beat Series:

 

Maybe all backgrounds in triad color scheme – violet, green, orange?

Also, tint – tone – shade?

 

Beet (vegetable)

  • Portrait

  • Purple bulb

  • Green leaves

  • Red stems

  • Earth tone back ground

 

  • Color Scheme – Split Complimentary

  1. Violet bulb

  2. Yellow-Green leaves

  3. Yellow-Orange Background

  4. (Red-violet stems)

 

 

Beat (accident)

  • Portrait

  • Brown hair

  • Black whiskers

  • Pink lips

  • Beige skin tone

  • Hazel & purple eye with yellow accent

  • ?? background

 

  • Color Scheme – Split Complimentary

  1. Violet eye with yellow highlights (complimentary)

  2. Brown hair (violet adding yellow)

  3. Hazel eye (yellow-green + shade {black})

  4. Skin tone (yellow-orange + tint {white})

  5. Red blood lines (mouth & nose)

  6. Black Whiskers & white light reflections (neutral)

 

Beat (music)

  • Landscape

  • Photo negative (black canvas)

  • White ledger lines & clef

  • Multi-colored notes x 4 (bd, sd, hh, cym),  (purple note heads, silver stems, etc)
